2020 LEARN Records Retention Toolkit Training Day

LEARN Records Retention Toolkit Training Day

Given the recent developments surrounding the COVID-19 Virus global pandemic and the conditions here at home in Ontario, the LEARN Executive and the Records Retention Sub-committee have decided that it would be in everyone's best interests to cancel the LEARN Records Retention Toolkit Training Day that was scheduled for April 8th, 2020.
We will re-schedule the training day once the health concerns have subsided, and we apologize for any inconvenience that may arise from this cancellation.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones good health, and to encourage everyone to stay as safe as possible!

What is a records retention schedule, and how do you create/update one?  What are legislated retention periods, and how are they different from recordkeeping requirements?  What are the differences between functional and subject-based records classification systems?  How can you get the most value out of your LEARN Records Retention Toolkit, other than having it sit impressively on your bookcase shelf?  How do you get buy in for your Service's records retention schedule from the top down in your organization – something that is essential for the schedule to work properly and efficiently?

If you have been asking yourself any of these or similar questions, then the OACP and the LEARN Executive are happy to inform you about the full-day training session on records retention. This training day is intended for anyone working for a municipal police service who is responsible for updating/maintaining, and ensuring compliance with, their Police Service's records retention schedule.
