Fall Media Course Filling up Quickly

Ontario police services who have personnel in need of media relations training will want to confirm their spot on this fall’s Media Relations Officers Course taking place October 21 to 25, 2019 at the Ontario Police College. This course has 20 spots available.  At this time, 10 spots have been reserved, meaning that services who wish to have their members attend should act quickly. Due to space limitations this fall at OPC, we will not be able to accommodate a class larger than 20.

The MRO course covers the following:

  • Media relations basics
  • Communications: it's not just media anymore!
  • Legal issues impacting law enforcement and justice organizations (incl. public disclosure, rules of engagement, Freedom of Information and professional standards issues)
  • News release writing 101
  • What journalists look for
  • Media tools at your disposal
  • Integrating social media into traditional media relations
  • Broadcast media (intensive, before-the-camera training)
  • Crisis communications and special events management
  • Visit to a television station to observe a live news cast

To register, please contact Darron Knebel, OACP Events Coordinator, at events@oacp.ca or (416) 926-0424, ext. 23.
