Ontario’s police leaders will be kicking off the OACP’s annual Lock It OR Lose It campaign on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto. The campaign is a proactive crime prevention program that assists police services in their efforts for motorists to take precautions in protecting their vehicles and vehicle contents from theft, particularly during the holiday season.
During the Lock It OR Lose It campaign, police and auxiliary officers will examine parked vehicles to confirm they are locked and no valuables are left in plain view. Officers will place a small notice on vehicles checked indicating what safety precautions were neglected and offer simple prevention tips for drivers to protect their vehicles against theft. The notices also congratulate drivers who have secured their vehicle.
Police services will be receiving Lock It OR Lose It flyers shortly after December 7 and are encouraged to use them as part of the crime prevention and community safety initiatives during the holiday season and year-round.
